Summer 2011…

Time for some festive cheer! At the end of another year in the region we thought it an opportune time to meet some local identities, both young and old, with stories to share. Enjoy these diverse and different tales and be sure to take something away from the journeys they describe. This issue also celebrates some sensational shopping and summer style. You don’t have to go far to find everything you need for gifts and gourmet goodies this season…
Life’s Lessons
‘From our greatest challenges, we often learn our most valuable lessons, so embrace all experiences, as you never know what exciting things you may learn.’ – unknown .In this edition we focus on generational stories from some inspiring local identities like Inverell’s Jack Cunningham. Friends travelled from all around Australia this year to help him celebrate 90 years of a truly remarkable man who had a hard but fulfilling life.
Business Feature
We meet the women taking care of business in Dalby! Profiling four energetic and involved business owners from this Darling Downs town is an eye-opener. They share their experiences of being business owners in ‘the bush’ and also offer a sneak peek into the wonderful shopping services they provide.
House & Garden
The ‘Vitonga’ homestead at Moree stands as a testament to the region’s one time foray into Art Deco design and decadence. The homestead has an interesting history endearing it to the different generations of families who have lived there. The Matthews Family were happy for us to take a look inside the home at the historical features it holds as well as explore the extensive grounds they have nurtured in their time.

Summer Style
Summer is all about casual country style and we feature a style shoot capturing the latest array of beautiful things available on the border this season. The overall soft and simple feel of shoot was captured in the summer makeup styling by Beauty Matters Salon and complimented by the ‘One Season’ resortware label which is stocked exclusively in the region at Shoe Elegance, Moree. The spread also samples deliciously light delights from the catering menu of Laurenz Cafe and features table styling and giftware from My Design Gift Shop, both found in Goondiwindi. Joyeux Noel!
